Updates

1/16/2026

Trail conditions: Trails have been icy, but we did get a light snow covering so just use caution while out hiking around. Our trails are not groomed at this point. Keep checking our website, Facebook, and skinnyski.com for the most accurate current trail conditions.

NO HIKING OR DOG WALKING on groomed ski trails. Hiking and dog walking will only be available on our snowshoe trails, and NOT on the ski trails to help maintain the longevity of the trails.

Please note that NNC has a variety of outdoor winter opportunities for you to utilize if you so wish. Find out more by clicking Winter Recreation.

Keep checking this page for more trail updates.

Remember: Navarino Wildlife Area is a multiuse property and please respect everyone who wants to come out and use the property.

*Be prepared before you go. Wear protective clothing and be aware of the weather conditions. Dressing in bright colors while hiking is always recommended.

*Please be respectful. Remember that the wildlife area is a multi-use property and we can all do our part to enjoy our time outdoors.

*If stopping to view wildlife, please move over and put on your hazards as you slow down or if you are stopped. Please note that there are various parking lots and pull offs on McDonald Road that you can use to view wildlife.

*Be aware that Navarino Wildlife Area is a public wildlife area and is open for hunting and trapping.  As the different hunting seasons approach different areas of the wildlife area will close to hunting. We encourage all hikers to wear bright colors and have their dogs easily identifiable. For questions on were hunting occurs on the wildlife area, please feel free to contact NNC at 715-758-6999.

Thank you for helping us keep Navarino Wildlife Area a place that people enjoy coming to!

Dogs are welcomed on the wildlife area but be aware that the Navarino Wildlife Area is open to hunting so having your dog on a leash or under your control is recommended. Dog walking areas will change to the snowshoe trails once our main trails are groomed for cross country skiing.

For any questions, please contact the NNC staff at 715-758-6999.
