Trail conditions: Trails are snow covered in some spots, open in others, water logged in some spots, and as the frost comes out of the ground, they will get sticky. So if you want to come hike, just be prepared as conditions can change all the time.
Trails are closed for skiing, but they are open for hiking.
Keep checking our website and Facebook.
Wildlife Sightings: We are getting small number of Sandhill cranes, Trumpeter Swans, and migrating waterfowl coming in the open water areas as well as the melting farm fields. We are not at peak spring numbers, but these different species are around and fun to see right now.
Remember: Navarino Wildlife Area is a multiuse property and please respect everyone who wants to come out and use the property.
*Be prepared before you go. Wear protective clothing and be aware of the weather conditions. Dressing in bright colors while hiking is always recommended.
*Please be respectful. Remember that the wildlife area is a multi-use property and we can all do our part to enjoy our time outdoors.
*If stopping to view wildlife, please cautiously move over as best as you can and put on your hazards as you slow down or if you are stopped. Please note that there are various parking lots and pull offs on McDonald Road that you can use to view wildlife.
*Be aware that Navarino Wildlife Area is a public wildlife area and is open for hunting and trapping. As the different hunting seasons approach different areas of the wildlife area will close to hunting. We encourage all hikers to wear bright colors and have their dogs easily identifiable. For questions on were hunting occurs on the wildlife area, please feel free to contact NNC at 715-758-6999.
Thank you for helping us keep Navarino Wildlife Area a place that people enjoy coming to!
Dogs are welcomed on the wildlife area but be aware that the Navarino Wildlife Area is open to hunting so having your dog on a leash or under your control is recommended.
For any questions, please contact the NNC staff at 715-758-6999.
